I had to say "Hello mag" to a lone magpie this morning.
More evidence that Spring has sprung... this magpie was starting to spruce-up her nest of twigs in tree along Sefton Street in the city centre.
It's amazing that these flashy birds are now a familiar sight in the city. When I arrived here to work in 1968 it was a place from which wildlife was virtually absent.
In fact it just shows how times have changed. Some people don't like magpies... personally I find them - and their close cousin the jay - the most attractive members of the crow family.
